Last month I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of Voro At Park Hyatt Mallorca. Voro, located in the Plaza de la Torre of the Park Hyatt resort and is described as ‘gastronomy without ties’, committed to the local environment and its Mediterranean roots.
The name Voro originally comes from the Latin word devoro that means to devour, to swallow, to eat avidly. Chef Álvaro Salazar, a young passionate chef with a Michelin Star for the third consecutive year is behind this amazing kitchen. Álvaro Bases his recipes on fresh and local products from Balearic Island.
The restaurant consists of a beautifully designed dining area with dark color wooden chairs perfect for a fine dining experience. Additionally, there are two big beautiful tables that are perfect for family/friends gathering.
Tour of the Kitchen
This was one of the most exciting parts of my visit where I had a chance to visit what’s happening behind the scene of this amazing restaurant. It looked like a master chef competition’s kitchen! I have never ever seen such a complex yet well-organized kitchen before. There are designated rooms for every purpose. For example, there is a room for making chocolate and the room smells like heaven and it has a perfect temperature to make chocolate. I wish I could just stay there!
Tasting dinner at Voro
I’m sure by now you are so excited to know how the food is like at Voro. They offer various tasting menus but I tried the 11-course menu and each course was paired with a wine. These are the dishes we tried:
- Sign of duck and corn
- Beef tartar, celery, hollandaise of bone marrow and cecina
- Steamed ochio filled with truffled free range chicken
- Sobrosada semi-spicy, crispy pigs feet and carob cookie
- Seafood salad with vinegar, seaweed and palo cartao
- Tripes of cod with its pil pil, botarga and mushrooms
- Wild caugh, roasted mere, gazpachuelo
- Soft, brased piece of the veal and three beetroots
- Brioche, noisette and galanga
- Orange sorbet, crispy Quinoa, grapefruit, chili and tap de corti
They also serve wine from more than 200 countries and they carefully selected the best local and international wine along each dishes of our tasting menu.
Last but not least, they keep a surprise for the end. A tray full of homemade chocolates and sweets to finish the feast.
Park Hyatt Mallorca kindly invited me to stay in their hotel during my stay in Mallorca. Park Hyatt Mallorca is a five-star luxury hotel designed like a traditional hilltop Spanish village to create a unique experience for the guest. The whole resort is very relaxing and calm and it overlooks a beautiful green pasture and the blue Mediterranian sea. The hotel has 126 guestrooms and 16 luxurious suites and each room and suit have a beautiful balcony. One of the main advantages of this resort is that is away from all the crazy busy tourist places yet only 10-minute walk to a fantastic beach.
We stayed in one of the spacious guest rooms with a comfy bed and a large and gorgeous and super modern bathroom.
The highlight of our room was our balcony. I really enjoyed opening the windows every morning and see the fantastic view of the valley from the balcony.
I probably had one of the most relaxing massages ever at Park Hyatt Mallorca Spa. The SPA was only 2 minutes from our villa and offered various range of services from massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure. I tried the Swedish massage and believe it or not, I fell asleep halfway through!
Breakfast is one of the highlights of this hotel because everything on the breakfast table looks so fresh. They offer different type of fresh juices along with the selection of egg dishes, bacon, and sausages, as well as fruits, cereal and bread with various toppings. I highly recommend trying the Egg Benedict.
Apart from Voro, there are three more in-house restaurants in Park Hyatt Mallorca resort, and they provide fresh locally sourced food from Spain. I tried two of them during my stay:
1) Baleriac: is a traditional Balearic restaurant that serves Mediterranean cuisine where dishes are prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients, collected from neighboring farms and fishing ports.
2) Tapas Bar: is a relax and cozy restaurant for a sociable experience with an outdoor terrace where guests can enjoy freshly prepared tapas with the genuine flavor of Spanish gastronomy.
Park Hyatt Mallorca is a one hour drive from Mallorca airport. You can ask the receptionist to book a car for you or you can reserve a car to pick you up upon your arrival.
I highly recommend Park Hyatt Mallorca if you are looking for a place to relax that is close to the beach and has fantastic food all in one place.
