At the beginning of each year, I put together a list of things I want to achieve and the places I like to visit in the year ahead. Morocco was among the countries I wanted to visit in 2018. I started my Moroccan discovery in Marrakesh. Marrakech is city of uniques colours with a special Rose/Peach theme for houses and buildings. Part of this city reminds me of the scene from the movies that meant to show life centuries ago.
When you search for accommodation in Morocco, the first attractive option is to stay in a Riad. Riad is a traditional guest house with a beautiful court yard that usually used to be residence of a rich family. Each Riad has 5-20 rooms that are designed to give you a real feel of Moroccan lifestyle. For our stay in Morocco, I definitely wanted to stay in a Riad and I spent a lot of time researching for a nice place close to Medina(old town), I finally decided to stay at Les Cigognes by Sanssouci Collection.
Les Cigognes by Sanssouci Collection is one of the best Riads in Marrakech with the best location ever. Many of Marrakech top tourist attractions are all within walking distance, including souks, bazars, mosques, museums and the best restaurants in the town. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed with fresh Moroccan mint tea and local sweets and pastries by lovely host Hayat.
The Room
Our beautiful room was on the second floor of the Riad with a nice balcony to the court yard in front of the room. The room was decorated using traditional Moroccan style to give you the real feel of life as a Moroccan. We were welcomed to our room with a beautiful bouquet of roses and fresh fruits.
These are some photos from our lovely room:
We had a beautifully designed traditional bathroom with shower facilities, bathrobe, hair-dryer and bathroom toiletries that are made of Moroccan Argan oil.
Location
The highlight of our Riad was its location in the heart of Marrakech within only 10 mins walk to Dar Al Fana square and the souks. We had lots of fantastic restaurants and bars just around the corner.
Breakfast
Breakfast in Riad is another great experience that you should not miss while in Marrakech. Our breakfast at Les Cigognes was served in the beautiful roof garden with the view of Menara. We had a menu to choose from every morning and the menu conststs of vriety of options such as eggs, omlete, fruits, pancakes, bread selection and jams and preserves.
